Any honda civic type r ep3 owners i need advice?

so i brought my first type r ep3 however im insanely dissapointed with the power or i dont think im driving it right? Ive been told to go up to 6000rpm and abit higher to get the best so i did that from third gear however im not getting any real speed form that, when people say go up to 6000rpm does that mean from all the gears? From 1st? Any help would be appreciated
Added (1). and also if im doing 70 mph in 6th gear ild try put my foot down to build up speed but it takes a while is this normal from 6th gear? Am i suppose to drop a lower gear to build up the speed?
