Can I still drive my 2003 Honda Accord LX 2.4L VTEC with P2646 code?

This morning as I was driving the check engine light came on, stepped hard on gas and it seemed as the car was going to die (rpms going crazy only when I step on gas hard) I accelerate normally and it doesnt do that drives fine, went to autozone they told me I had a P2646 code checked my engine oil it was a bit low so added more oil. Will the code go away, if not can I drive it for two more weeks or will it break down if I dont change the Vtec solenoid.(Autozone guy told me it was this part)

99 Honda Accord V6 Auto, Electrical or Trasnmission Problem?

Update: I have a V6 99 Honda Accord, and I got on it a little to get to highway speeds and the cars power kind of died on me and I noticed that my D4 Light was blinking, which is basically my "Transmission Check Light". Not having a transmission code light, I tried using an expensive engine check light which showed that I got too much power entering my shift solenoid. So I assumed it was my alternator. So I took alternator to get it tested and it passed charging test but failed a few others.
Update 2: Then My cars power started to completely die out one night while driving, my radio powered off, my cluster lights dimmed and eventually the car died and wouldn't start until the next morning. Had battery checked and it was fine.
Now when I turn on my car, the D4 light takes longer to start blinking. Now takes 5-6 seconds when previously it was instant.
Update 3: I just changed the Transmission fluid today, it was a fairly dark red fluid, doesn't look like it was changed in a while. I'm going to drive it about 50 miles and change it again. Despite there being multiple screens within the transmission, the magnet didn't have a whole lot of shavings on it.

Right now, I can only use my 2nd, and 3rd gears manually. If i put it into 3rd, it wont use 2nd either.

2001 Honda Accord Rough Idle When Cold?

2001 Honda Accord with 65,000 miles. 2nd owner. Not sure how it was maintained before, but low miles.

I have a rough idle when the engine is cold. Goes away after 2 mins. It is noticeably worse when it is raining. Also when it is raining, I have twice gone shopping, restarted the engine and it died kike it wasn't getting gas.

Just had a broken motor mount replaced and new spark plugs. I still have the original problem with rough idle. I start it and it is mildly "ferocious" when it starts and I now have a vibration in the steering wheel and front end. At idle it vibrates more and when I put it into park.

Any suggestions out there?

Are Dunlop Signature II tires good for a 95 honda accord?

I need new tires on my 95 accord EX sedan 4 cylinder. I was leaning toward going to a Goodyear store and getting RS-A Eagle's but I worry because they don't have any warranty at all. Dunlop II's have a 65k mile warranty. Are they good tires? The next stop up with be Goodyear Comfort Touring tires but they are a lot more expensive.

How much should rebuilding a 2000 Honda accord bottom end engine cost?

I purchased a vehicle with over 200, 000 miles on it for 2900. I don't know what I was thinking. Now the engine is burning oil, but according to the seller he rebuilt the top end and in order for it not to burn oil I need to have the bottom end rebuilt. How much does a job like this cost? Honda Accord Sport 2014 only getting 22 mpg? Problem?

i recently purchased a brand new honda accord sport 2014 in on june 9th 2014… Its hasnt even been a year yet! On my dash/speedmeter it sats my average is only 22mpg? Wtf is wrong with my car? Its a honda… Its suppose to get 36! I barely drive fast? Is this a common problem? Mechanical issue with the car or? Someone help!

Best first Motorcyle for teenage girl 5'1?

I'm looking at getting my first motorcycle soon, preferably a sports, I don't like the look of cruisers so please don't suggest any to me. I'm 5'1, and 120 pounds. And live in a city with lots of wind and hills. I've been looking at a typical ninja 250, because i've wanted one since I was a kid, and found out that they're actually really good bikes for beginner riders. Or maybe a Honda CBR 250. I'll mainly be using it for commuting to work everyday which is about 20 minutes away and around the city. Also when I gain my confidence i'd like to take small roadtrips on the freeway. Which bikes are suitable for me?

How to find out if my Mustang is turbocharged?

I am sorry if this sounds like a dumb question to people out there but I have a 97 Mustang that I just bought. It is a 3.8 V6. I just bought it. Looking online I'm seeing a lot of these v6's come with very low horsepower. My Honda Accord would appear to have the same horsepower. However this Mustang seems pretty fast to me and it's sucking down gas. It has duel Flowmaster mufflers that are not stock, 17 inch rims that are not stock and an aftermarket hood with hood scoop. So I'm wondering what else has been done to it. Looking online I see people turbocharging and getting between 500 and 800 horsepower. All I really know is it seems pretty fast to me. Just wondering if anyone could tell me how I could go about finding out if it is in fact turbocharged or not? Thanks people.

Honda chassis bars, do they work?

I own a 2000 honda civic. I like to take corners a little faster than the average joe, but not insanely fast. I was wondering if these parts would make a difference and by what degree of a difference would I feel.

Front and back strut tower bars, pillar brace bar, and lower tie bar.

Would I notice a difference, these are supposed to be bolt on parts, I know sway bars would make the real difference but id have to swap some lower control arms & they're a little bit more pricier than the other bars alone, so for now I would just like to know if spending money on bolt on chassis bars would give me bang for my buck.

Im planning on buying a Honda crf150f (first ever bike, don't try to convince me otherwise, because my minds made up), and I'm planning on having it for about a year and then selling it after that year and buying a bigger bike. So would it be worth it if i buy something like a fmf/pro circuit t4 pipe/exhaust for it? (both cost around $350-$450 here) Will i feel a difference in power? Used car or new car for first time driver?

Which one is better? I'm 28 years old, first time driver, and it will be my first time buying a car.

I'm interested in getting a Mini Cooper or fiat. I don't want a huge car like Honda, ford, Nissan, etc. I'm very tiny and short, 5ft tall and weigh 90lbs. I prefer 4 door, automatic, and a smart car. Since I'm short and I have short legs, I will need to get the gas and pedal fix.

here are my pros/cons of used n new car:

Used:
1. Cheaper than a new car.
2. Car tends to have a lot of problems, and will cost $$$$ to get it fix, because of the previous owner(s).

New:
1. Everything runs perfect.
2. Once you buy the car full price, the market value will drop once I drive it and own it. But I don't care. I'm not planning on selling the car, I will use it forever.
3. It cost more money.

If the used car cost me $20k, while the new car cost $23k. Then I would rather buy the new car, because it is only $3k more.

Please help and please tell me what model should I get for fiat or minicooper.

I'm not interested in Honda, Nissan, Kia, ford, saburu, gmc, Toyota, bmw, Mazda, etc. ONLY MINICOOPER AND FIAT.

When replacing engine mounts in any vehicle, one step is to lift the engine slightly. On my '97 Honda CR-V, the bottom side of the engine appears to be mostly obscured by the oil pan. (Of course, trying to use the pan would result in disaster.)

im 18 and i am a full time college student and i work part time. I have no credit or co signer and i make about $400 a month. I had a 2000 honda civic but it got towed because i was in an accident (not with another car) and i dont want to pay $250 to get it out and pay more to get the tires fixed and the drivers door was already busted so its really not worth paying for. My last resort is a buy here, pay here dealer because i dont have time to save my money because i cant go to school and work while taking public transportation, not with my busy and tight schedule! I literally have 10 minutes to leave school and get to work! My parents are helpless in this situation because my dad has bad credit and isnt definitely not going to help! I can do a $1000 down payment and pay about $300 a month. Ive been employed for about 5 months and im looking for more work. Please help i am desperate! If this isnt the best option then what is? I cant get a loan because i have no credit and i will definitely not find anyone to cosign for me! What should i look out for with these dealers?! Please dont tell me to wait and save my money because i dont have time for that! Paid for a head gasket replacement job but now I think they may have missed something?

I have had some major repairs done to my car (2000 Honda Civic LX, 4 Cylinder). Had a few places look at it but finally sucked it up and took it to the Honda dealership.
They sent the block out to make sure they it wasn't warped, replaced the head gasket, water pump, timing belt, other belts, oil job, etc. 2 pages worth of stuff. I had the radiator and hoses and some other stuff replaced about 2 years ago. They also recommended having the catalytic converter replaced it had a "crack", but they wanted to charge $800 so I said I would have wait (Honda genuine parts are expensive!) They never said if the cover was cracked or the actual converter.
Since I got it back it's been ok but I have noticed that it is using much more oil than before. There are no oil leak spots on the carport so I'm not sure where it's going or why it's using so much.
Today, I noticed this weird spot on the carport, approximately where the exhaust comes out of the tailpipe. I think it's where I crank the car up to warm up in the morning. So the weird spot has like smut colored drops in it and so I swiped it to see what it was. It did not look, feel or smell like oil, but it kinda looked like soot when you rub it. So now I'm paranoid that the Honda place missed something major - even though they called me everyday they had it with "recommended" repairs. I hesitate to take it back because they are expensive, and the service manager treats me like I'm an idiot.
Anyone have any ideas on what it may be?

My car tempature guage keeps sayings is overheating?! What do you think is wrong?

I have a 2005 honda civic ex special edition coupe 4 cly engine and it keeps overheating. I just changed the thermostat, and it still overheats, i fixed all leaks and check for any leaks there was none, still overheats. I dont think my head gasket it blown no real signs of that, and my coolant is still green and still good levels look good. I did notice that afta my car warms up it takes a while for the heat to kick in. Also sometimes when the heat is working it will randomly start blowing cooler air then, it will go bac to warmer air. And i notice my tempature guage is raisin if i'm parked up or even if i'm driving and den i'll have to play with my tempature controlls in order to bring the temparture down. What do you think is the problem? I took it to the mechanic for this same ossue 3 different times. I don't want to pay him again for somthing that doesn't fix the problem? What do you guys think is the problem?!

I was in a 2013 mustang and my girlfriends kid was trying to race.me in his honda. I wouldn't have anything to do with it. We'll we go around a corner and he accelerates and passes me and cuts in my lane. At that time there was a cop running radar and he pulls out and gets behind us. He pulls us over and my gfs kid in the Honda kept going. We'll if I use him in court and he admits to being the one speeding will he get the ticket? Or can they not do anything?

Car Won't Start/Battery problems?

So I was playing the radio in my car with the engine turned off but the key turned once. It ended up killing my battery and my car wouldn't start. I jumped it from a friends car, and then the car started. I put the cables from her car on the ground to close her hood, and but then they touched and my cars engine turned off immediately and wouldnt start, then I accidentally crossed the posnand neg cables in her car to charge mine again. There were sparks, so then i put the cables the right way to try and start mine again and it wouldn't work.

In the beginning the car was really close to starting but ever since the cables touched on the ground, the car doesnt even crank or make a sound when i turn the key.
Its a Honda Accord 2000 LX, do you guys have any idea what I can do to fix it?

2001 honda accord ac/heat pannel stopped working?

Please help me. I tried putting a radio into my girlfriends car and the radio did not work in that car for some reason but that is besides the point. I did blow a fuse but I replaced it and looked at every fuse I could find and even used a fuse tester. There all good. But the ac an heat control panel will not come on. It has been really cold lately so I really want to fix this for my girlfrien. Also the srs light and the check engine light came on but I rest the check engine light and it has not come back on but the srs light is still on. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Why do older Hondas rarely have factory stereos?

Whenever I see Hondas for sale online (mostly pre 2000 Accords and Civics), about 75% of them have aftermarket stereos. I thought Honda was well-known for having decent factory stereos, so I don't understand why the stereos are replaced. Is it for parts? Are the stereos bad after all?

Strange whining noise in the engine?

All this seemed to happen after I crashed my car into the ditch, due to driving onto the shoulder of the road on a bad winter day and couldent recover. It seems as tho my car likes to make this whining noise under neath the hood, I think it is somewhat related to acceleration and rpms but not speed. When the car is idling and stopped the noise is very apparrent, although when I feather the gas a bit and keep the engine revving the noise stops until I take my foot off the gas then it starts again. Yet its a different story when the car is actually moving because pressing on the accelerator actually causes the noise to get louder and it seems to die down right after the car shifts gears and continues to get louder once it reaches higher rpms in that gear. The strange thing is it likes to come and go, sometimes it stops doing it all together for say about a minute then it starts back up again. It also only really does this when its really cold out and seems to die down when the engines been warmed up for longer than a half hour.

Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

By the way its a 96 honda civic ex.

Is Acura or Mercedes-Benz better?

My mom is considering buying a luxury car in a few years to replace her Mercury.
After reliability issues with American cars, my mom is disappointed with the reliability of them. My dad made the switch to Hyundai and we've had very good experience with them.
I know Acura is made by Honda, and Honda is said to be even better than Hyundai. But, while Mercedes-Benz makes cars of good quality, I've heard their reliability isn't as good as Honda or Hyundai (or Mazda, my family knows a lot about Mazda's reliability as my dad had considered buying a Mazda6). If Mercedes-Benz and the other German car brands no longer make reliable cars, why is this?

Can I ride right after the MSF course?

I want to buy a Honda CMX250 but I don t have an suv or pickup truck to haul it in. So would I be able to learn how to ride it home after my MSF course? It s a 2 day course from 9-5.

Looking to get into car restoration/tuning? - 1

I am a 15 year old boy looking to get into car tuning but I don't think my dad believes that I will actually take up this hobby. He has asked me to work on his car with him a couple of times with sway bars, and transmission, but I never really fully participated because I really wanted to be working on something that was mine (and not a 2001 Honda Accord). I am into older cars, foreign models but they are way out of my price range, but recently I have been looking at 80s Camaro's with reasonable miles (40-60k). We have many tools required for working on cars and a three car garage so it is practical but I need help on how to bring up this subject with my dad. I already know my mom will disapprove because she wouldn't even let me get into dirt bikes, but my dad worked on cars with his dad when he was younger and I think I should bring it up with him since he would be the one helping me as well. Also are there any other cars like the camaros that are under 5k and would make a pretty sweet looking car for a high school student. I am not into speed or anything I just love the look of muscle/tuner cars and the 86 camaro IROC-Z falls right in the middle of my interests.

After full service in shop car still stalls?

Had honda serviced but it still stalls, sadly it never stalls when they test drive it. Only does it with me. Everything was sercived filters spark plugs everything. No codes on computer popping up either. What could this stalling be then?

Honda pilot or jeep liberty?

So im searching for a new car and im either going to get a honda pilot or a jeep liberty but i was wondering out of the both which one is more reliable or better quality. I know other then the third row and more space in the pilots there engine's aren't much of a difference. And im assuming the gas is the same. But i like to get some feedback. Can I put wider tires on my car?

More specifically, I'm selling a set of 2006 Acura TL rims (235/45 R17, 9Jx16 ET40). The car they are going in is a 2002 Honda Oddysey with smaller tires and rims (225/60 R16, 7Jx16 ET40). Bolt patterns are the same on both as are the offsets (ET40). However, those numbers are indicating that the tire for the TL is 2" (50mm) wider. I'm guessing the inner clearance will be reduced by 1" and will protrude by 1" on the outside as well. Is 1"/25mm less on the inner clearance going to be too close to the suspension?

What is the screeching sound from front tires?

I have an 08 Honda Civic Ex. Every time i initially drive my front tires start to screech wile i am driving. They stop making the screeching noise after i i start to break hard or pump breaks. No brake lights or check engine appear on my dash board.

What is causing my engine to overheat? (Honda Accord 94 LX Sedan)?

I own a

Honda Accord 94 LX Sedan,had it for about 2 years. I bought it at about 190k miles.

APX. 210000 Miles
Oil is nearly topped off (Above max(not sure if it is stressing my engine?
Radiator is brand new(Just had it replaced 3 weeks ago)
-50/50 Coolant/AntiFreeze(Unknown level)
Transmission fluid(Unknown)
Thermostat recently fixed

My car recently boiled over and overheated. Coolant was leaking from somewhere near where the radiator cap is and steam was coming out. My friends dad recently checked the reasavour and there was nothing there so he just put simple tap water(Biggest mistake). Which is what probably caused all the steam and the boiling over.

Anyway this morning I put a fresh mix of 50/50 Antifreeze&Coolant/Water,car drove fine(To work and back and to lunch) but the thermostat kept reporting a high tempature. I checked underneath my car and no coolant was leaking and no steam was coming out from the radiator.

The car does start on an instant, does not fail/stall and drives normal. No shaking no sweet smells.

I searched online but there are so many issue it could be…

Slipping accessory belt(never changed)
Plugged Radiator(I doubt it because its a new radiator but I guess these things can happen quick)
Late Timing(Never checked)
Hoses(Never changed… I was under the assumption that my mechanic changed everything RADIATOR related but I guess not)

I dont know what else it could be… Please give me some advice on what it could be.

IMA and Check Engine light on in 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid?

I was driving for a good 30 minutes and then the IMA and Check Engine warning lights came on. When I got home I shut off my car and turned it back on and the IMA light was gone but the Check Engine light is still on.

Will this alternator work with my car?

So basically I have a 2009 1.8L Honda Civic EX. I'm in the market for a new alternator but recently wanted to add better speaker/tweeters and lots of interior lighting. Well bad news, the stock alternator makes a mere 70 amps. So after looking at non OEM alternators, I find they're very specific on makes and models, what exactly can i use or not use in my civic? I see some nice ones, lots of amps to play with extra but labeled for "2.0L 2006-2009 Civic SI" and look to be the same exact layout and everything as a normal civics alternator. I always thought as long as its not so big that you cant physically fit it in your car that you could put it in your car, but with all the plug in's that im sure are Honda specific, it's hard to tell what would work in my car. Help please?

Is my car still in good conditions?

I just bought a 1992 Honda accord last year in March and it was in great conditions. I've taken good care of it and have done the oil changes it needs. For the past 4 months it shakes crazy, but just from the steering wheel, and i got that checked out but the mechanic said it's no biggie. My question is, since its old, can i drive about 70 miles a day, my job is about 35 miles away so i want to know if it's in ok conditions to drive that many miles a day.

Deciding on a 2004 impala or 1998 honda civic lx 4dr?

so heres the thing i drive through hills quite a bit. The impala should have no struggles going uphill but the honda i believe would. And the impala is at 190k miles honda is 140k. Of course the honda has way better gas mileage. The impala is like new from inside and out, honda is okay outside but the inside is all torn up. Lastly the impala is 2400$ and civic is 1800$ what are your opinions, i guess what im asking is would the honda really have trouble going uphill?

2000 Honda Civic Ex grinds when shifting into reverse, is this normal?

Hello, the other day when I was parked on an incline I noticed my reverse gear grinded. I was in neutral and slowly rolling backwards when I tried to go into reverse. I repeated the action about twice with the same thing happening. It wasn't until I pressed the brake and came to a complete stop that I was able to shift into reverse smoothly. Previously the reverse gear had grinded on my about twice in the span of a couple of weeks when I was at a complete stop. I've read that its somewhat "normal" for reverse to grind ever so often but I'm not fully convinced. So am I not supposed to go from neutral to reverse if I'm rolling backwards? Thank you.

2000 Honda Civic Input Shaft Bearing noise?

When the car is idle I can hear the noise and when the clutch is depressed I notice the noise go away. Now I'm no mechanic but the symptoms point to a bad input shaft bearing, according to what I've read online. However, a lot of the bad ISB noises are described as "whirring" and metal banging against each other, but in my car it sounds like a squeak. Almost like a squeaky hamster wheel and it isn't too terribly loud but it is noticeable. So is it the ISB or can it be something else?

Choose between Lexus IS, Lexus ES or BMW 3328i?

Which would would you choose to buy? I am a bit weary buying BMW because some said they are easy to break down and need maintenance. Lexus seems more reliable but they also seems to be more expensive; especially on the resale market (I plan to buy a newer second hand) Any advice?

Painting 07 Honda Civic Coupe?

I am wondering about how much is a paint job?, and how much is the paint and any other supplies I might need? Important things I should know before getting it painted?, Because the college I go to has a collision repair program, and they can paint student cars for $75, but I have to supply the paint. I should probably ask them all of this but I don't want to look dumb. Also one more thing is that they won't take the paint off, the instructor told they just paint over the current paint, I guess they might just sand it down or something, I don't know. So is that a bad thing or not?, I know it's student's working on the car so there is a liability waver I have to sign and everything, but it doesn't matter, the current paint is pretty crapy and peeling off anyways so it's all good. So just any information you could provide would be of much help thanks.
