Should I use a silicone sealant and/or blue loctite when installing a stator on a motorcycle?

The stator recently went out on my 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 and I am currently waiting on the replacement stator to arrive. It's come to attention that some people use blue loctite when bolting in the stator into the case, then a silicone sealant around the case when re-bolting it to the bike. Is this necessary/recommended and what kind of sealant should I use for the case if I need some? Thanks in advance.
