Is a honda shadow 750 too much bike for a beginner?

Im a pretty big guy, and they felt comfortable at the dealerships.dealerships. Im seeing used ones selling for around 2500-3500 i great shape.3000 is about my budget, and I dont have unlimited money, I know people say to start on a 250 and sell it, but I dont really have the funds, and the 250s are about the same money as a shadow 750. I just wanna know if this bike would be an appropriate beginner
