Buying a used car in west palm beach?!

So I'm planning on buying my first car, by myself. The most I'd like to spend is 8,000 and the lowest 5,000… Hope that's reasonable. I have a Honda Civic in mind, how much mileage is normal on a used car and which year is the best that fits my priced range?
