I bought a new 2013 Honda Fit in Jan 2013. It has 2 years has 5.5K miles on it. According to the manual and the Honda customer service via Twitter I should wait till the maintenance minder says to change the oil. This makes me nervous since it's been so long. My maintenance minder hasn't even come on (for 15% time on oil remaining). Anyone have experience working on cars with maintenance minders? Do they work or should I have my oil changed sooner? I plan to drive this car till it dies so I want to keep it in good shape.
Added (1). Replies are all over the map. I'm really looking for advice on someone who has hands on experience. I've seen answers that say 5K miles is ok with modern oil, and others that say do first oil change at 1.5k. Please add your level of experience with the system and/or cars in general to your reply. Thanks
