White smoke coming out of the car after over doing it with motor oil?

So i am 18 years old. My mom gave me her old car, a honda 2003. She told me to be checking the oil and water every week. Recently i asked my boyfriend to go buy more oil just in case we need it. He came back with a big gallon of oil (5 quarts) and decided to put the whole thing in. (The car didn't need water at the moment ) . Yes, he put the whole thing in. (My boyfriend knows very little of cars) . As we were driving we noticed white smoke coming out, a lot! When i pressed on the gas it barely advanced but just a bunch of white smoke came out. We had to drive back home. I have very little money ( literally no money ) . What can i do? How can i fix this? Whats wrong with my car please help and answer.
