Honda Civic vs Honda Accord vs?

I am currently a college student who is commuting a lot back and forth and I am also a father of a 6 month old and married.

I am looking to buy either an accord or a honda civic because they are pretty good at gas.

I am looking for a 5 year old car or maybe older not really too sure. I still want it to be somewhat modern but around 5 years is probably the best so 2010 or so.

I dont know too much about cars so if there are better choices for my family and gas please list them, but accord and civic are the only ones i know of
