Is it a good idea to get a crotch rocket as a beginner street bike?

I really like the Honda CBR 600's. I've actaullu never ridden a crotch rocket. I'm 5'6 exact and 135 pounds. Would this bike be too big? I ride motocross on an RM 125 Suzuki. It's pretty tall. Anyways, am I crazy to want a crotch rocket as a beginner rider? What bike would you guys recommend? Besides a Ninja 250 because I heard you outgrow them and they don't provide much speed/power.
