I own and 1999 Honda Prelude and just recently I replaced the fuel pressure regulator because I found fuel in the vacuum line. I went to advanced auto to purchase a new one and after replacing it I noticed a longer crank time to start whereas before the engine would start as it should. I then noticed that if I prime the fuel system 5 times (engine the fuel pump before starting) it starts just as it should. I decided to get a fuel pressure regulator to see what is going on but this problem did not exist before replacing the regulator. The fuel filter is overdue so I plan on replacing that but Im not getting any faulty fuel pump symptoms either. Could it be that the part isnt genuine Honda? What would cause a longer start after replacing the fuel pressure regulator?
