I have a 2006 Honda Civic. Why does the batter light come on when head lights are Off?

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. Why does the batter light come on when head lights are Off? - 1
Added (1). So I replaced the alternator on my car a little less than a year ago. Recently, the battery light comes on only when my headlights are OFF. I just drive with my headlights on all the time now, so its not that big of a deal. What could it be?
